The Swedish Go Association cordialy invite players of all strengths to participate in the 2008 edition of the yearly battle of the Nordic countries! Which glorious country will bring forth a champion to defeat and shame its nordic neighbours? The Danes? The Norwegians? The Finns or maybe even the Swedes?

There is only one way to find out. Bring forth the bravest! Bring forth the best! Go to Stockholm!
Last years result means nothing now - the gauntlet is thrown.

Venue

This years championship will be held at Stockholms Schacksalonger, Ringvägen 9 C which is situated in central Stockholm, at Zinkensdamm, three subway stations away from the central station.

To get there you take the red subway line towards Fruängen or Norsborg. Zinkensdamms subway station is a good choice to get off. From there there is just a short walk to the venue.

Tournament fee

  • Regular fee: 250 SEK
  • Under 18: 150 SEK
  • Under 15: free

Main tournament

The Nordic Championship is an open six round swiss tournament using Japanese rules and a komi of 6.5 points.
All games are played with 80 minutes per player and an additional 3 x 30 sec. periods of Japanese byoyomi.
A reduced handicap might be used for the weaker players.

Nordic Pair Go Championship

The Noridc Pair Go Championship will be an open five round swiss tournament using Japanese rules and a komi of 6.5 points.
All games are played withd 30 minutes per player with an additional 1 x 30 sec. periods of Japanese byoyomi.
The handicap will be based on a average pair rank minus (at most) three handicap stones.
